Chapter 24 - The Liquidation

Claire pressed a single button on her digital console.

The massive screen behind her flared to life, displaying the indisputable, legally binding transfer documents, signed and sealed by the international banking authorities.

"I now own seventy-four percent of Vanguard Industries,"

Claire announced to the stunned, breathless room.

"Which means I do not need your permission, your approval, or your pathetic votes to do absolutely anything I want with this company."

The silence in the boardroom was absolute, heavy, and final.

"You are destroying a legacy,"

One of the older board members stammered, wiping a sudden sheen of nervous sweat from his forehead.

"I am destroying a criminal enterprise built on extortion, manipulation, and blood,"

Claire replied smoothly, her eyes locking onto each man at the table one by one, ensuring they understood their total defeat.

"Effective immediately, Vanguard Industries is dissolved. The manufacturing plants will be sold off to our international competitors. The real estate portfolio will be liquidated by the end of the fiscal quarter."

"You are liquidating billions!"

Richard shouted, slamming his fist onto the table in a desperate, impotent rage.

"What are you possibly going to do with all that capital? You are insane!"

Claire smiled. It was not a warm smile; it was the razor-sharp smile of a survivor who had finally cornered her abusers.

"Every single cent of the liquidated assets will be transferred directly to the Haven Foundation,"

Claire declared proudly.

"I am taking the empire Ethan built to oppress people, and I am using it to fund legal teams, psychological counseling, and secure housing for victims of domestic abuse."

Richard opened his mouth to protest, but no words came out. He looked at the screen, then at Claire, realizing that his career, his wealth, and his proximity to power had just been annihilated in less than five minutes.

"This meeting is adjourned,"

Claire stated, closing her leather portfolio.

"Security will escort you out of the building. You have exactly fifteen minutes to clear your desks."

She didn't wait for their response. She turned her back on them, walking out of the boardroom with her head held high, leaving the ruins of Ethan's legacy burning in her wake.
