Chapter 37 - Decoding the Monster

They drove through the night, leaving the burning wreckage of the cabin behind, and arrived at a heavily fortified, underground server farm Jax had established in Seattle.

Jax plugged the titanium drive into the mainframe. It took twelve hours of aggressive hacking, but the Vanguard encryption finally cracked.

The screen illuminated with thousands of files, offshore bank accounts, and political blackmail material. But one file stood out: a high-level operational directive.

"Look at this," Jax said, pointing at the screen. "Because Silas failed to secure the asset, the Vanguard Board of Directors has called an emergency summit. They are meeting to vote on the termination of Project Genesis and the activation of a global bounty on your heads."

"Geneva," Jax replied. "In exactly forty-eight hours. The entire leadership of Vanguard will be in one room."
