Chapter 36 - The PivotBy the time Jax finally arrived at the cabin an hour later, the surviving Vanguard forces had fled into the woods, completely broken by the loss of their commander.
Jax walked into the ruined living room, heavily armed and out of breath, only to find Daniel and Valeria packing the SUV.
"You killed Silas," Jax said, staring at the body in the basement with wide eyes. "Do you realize what you've done? Vanguard will send an army. They will scorch the earth to find you."

"Let them try," Valeria said coldly, holding up the titanium thumb drive. "Silas brought us the keys to their kingdom. We have their entire shadow ledger, Jax. We have the names of the board members, the locations of their labs, and the identities of every billionaire who funded Project Genesis."
Daniel loaded the last bag into the armored SUV. "We spent the last year playing defense. We ran. We hid. We built a sanctuary, and they burned it down. I am done running."
