Chapter 29 - The Fortress Awakens

"They found us," Daniel said, walking into the living room. His voice was completely devoid of panic. It was cold, calculated, and lethal.
Valeria didn't scream. She didn't cry. She placed Aria safely into her reinforced crib in the subterranean bunker, then walked over to the gun safe. She pulled out a sleek, suppressed MP5 submachine gun and racked the bolt with practiced, terrifying precision.
"We knew this day would come," Valeria said, her eyes burning with a mother’s absolute wrath.

"I'm going to rig the treeline," Daniel said, tossing her a tactical vest. "If they want to take our daughter, they are going to have to walk through hell to get to her."
For the next hour, Daniel moved like a ghost through the snow, burying C4 charges and setting tripwires along the only access road to the cabin.
