Chapter 28 - The Warning

Back at the cabin, Valeria was rocking Aria to sleep when the encrypted radio in the basement suddenly blared to life. It wasn't a text message this time. It was a live, frantic audio feed.
"Daniel! Do you copy?!" Jax’s voice roared through the static.
Daniel, who had just returned and was unpacking the snowmobile, sprinted down the stairs and keyed the mic. "Jax! I'm here. What's wrong?"
"You tripped a wire," Jax shouted over the sound of a revving engine. "Vanguard just scrambled a dozen private jets out of Seattle and New York, all filing flight plans for a private airstrip in BC. They have your coordinates, Daniel! They are coming right now!"

Daniel’s blood turned to ice. "How long?"
"Two hours, maybe less," Jax warned. "I'm crossing the border now, but I'm three hours behind them. You have to hold the line, Daniel. Do not let them take the girl."
