Chapter 23 - The Ghost Frequency

A week passed in quiet, snowy isolation. The physical wounds began to heal. Daniel’s arm regained its mobility, and Valeria found a rhythm of peace, spending her days reading by the massive stone fireplace.

But the silence was broken on a Tuesday night.

Daniel was in the basement communications room, monitoring the encrypted dark-web frequencies he had established with Jax. Suddenly, the green light on the console blinked. A burst transmission came through—a string of numbers and letters.

Daniel’s fingers flew across the keyboard, running the decryption algorithm. When the text finally translated onto the screen, a fierce, relieved smile broke across his face.

Daniel keyed in a rapid response. STAY DARK. HEAL. DO NOT COME TO THE CABIN YET. THEY WILL BE WATCHING THE BORDERS.

Jax was alive. Their most lethal ally had survived the fire.
