Chapter 30 - The Wolves Arrive

The sun set, plunging the Canadian wilderness into absolute darkness. The silence of the forest was deafening.
Then, the low, rhythmic hum of engines echoed through the valley.
Daniel lay prone on the roof of the cabin, cloaked in white camouflage, peering through the thermal scope of his sniper rifle. He saw them. A dozen high-performance snowmobiles, carrying Vanguard operatives dressed in advanced winter tactical gear, were gliding silently toward the property.
At the rear of the formation, riding in an armored snow-cat, was Silas.

"Contact," Daniel whispered into his throat mic. "Twelve hostiles. Approaching the outer perimeter."
"I have them on the monitors," Valeria replied from the bunker, her finger resting gently on the detonator for the perimeter explosives. "Give the word."
