Chapter 47

The revelation that Senator Marcus Thorne was the true architect behind the cartel's operations shifted the battlefield entirely. They were no longer fighting street-level thugs or corrupt local lawyers; they were going to war against one of the most powerful politicians in the United States. Thorne had the endless resources of the federal government at his disposal, and he was clearly willing to murder witnesses in maximum-security prisons to protect his secrets.
"We cannot just hand this over to the media," Claire warned, staring at the ledger on Ethan’s screen with deep concern. "Thorne controls the narrative. He has entire PR firms and legal teams on retainer. If we leak this without absolute, undeniable proof of his direct involvement, he will spin it as a deep-fake conspiracy and have us all arrested for treason."
"Claire is right," Sarah agreed, pacing the length of the basement. "Thorne is untouchable through standard legal channels. If I take this to the FBI Director, I'll be suspended or killed before the sun goes down. We need physical leverage. We need to tie Thorne directly to the offshore accounts listed in this ledger."
Nathan looked at the complex routing numbers on the screen. "These accounts are located in the Cayman Islands. They are blind trusts. There are no names attached to them, only numeric designations. How do we prove Thorne is the one pulling the money?"
Ethan began typing rapidly again, tracing the IP logs associated with the offshore bank transfers. "The banking system is secure, but the access points aren't. Someone has to log into these accounts to move the money. I'm tracking the digital handshake... got it."
Ethan brought up a satellite map of Washington D.C. A red pinpoint appeared over a massive, highly secured estate in the exclusive suburbs of Virginia.
"The primary access terminal for the offshore accounts is located inside Senator Thorne's private residence," Ethan declared. "It's on a closed, localized network. Completely disconnected from the internet. The only way to get the proof is to physically download the access logs directly from his personal server."

Michael let out a low, impressed whistle. "You're talking about breaking into a sitting US Senator's heavily guarded estate."
"I'm saying," Nathan replied, his eyes narrowing with fierce determination, "we are going to Washington."
