Elena pulled up a chair, her shoulders slumping as if a massive physical weight was pressing down on her.
"Thirty-two years ago," Elena began, her voice trembling, "I came to work at the estate. Daniel's father, Don Alejandro, was a good man. But his marriage to Teresa was a business arrangement. Cold. Cruel. Over time, Alejandro and I... we fell in love."
