Chapter 24 - The Shadow Board

The corporate underworld of the city was a dark, treacherous ocean, filled with predators who had thrived under Daniel's corrupt regime.
Late that night, in the soundproof basement of a high-end, exclusive gentleman's club, three powerful men gathered around a dimly lit table.
Sterling, the silver-haired executive whom Mateo had humiliated in the boardroom, took a sip of his expensive scotch.
"The gardener is systematically dismantling our entire supply chain,"
Sterling growled, slamming his glass onto the table.
"He is canceling the shadow contracts. If he initiates a full forensic audit, we are all going to federal prison right next to Daniel."
Sitting across from him was Vance, a ruthless corporate fixer who specialized in violent acquisitions.
"Mateo is heavily guarded,"
Vance noted, reviewing a dossier filled with surveillance photos of the estate.
"He hired a private military contractor to run the perimeter. The widow and the child never leave the property. A direct physical assault is impossible without causing a massive, highly publicized war."
"Then we don't attack the fortress,"

The third man, a corrupt judge who was secretly on the payroll, smiled a wicked, terrifying smile.
"We attack the foundation. We make the gardener believe that the widow is plotting against him. We introduce poison into the well, and we watch them destroy each other from the inside."
