Chapter 36 - The Final Sentence
Mateo pulled a heavy, sealed legal document from his jacket.
"This is a federal mandate,"
Mateo explained smoothly.
"I used your seized funds to permanently fund a new maximum-security wing at the northern facility. The wing is completely isolated from all human contact. No mail. No laundry trucks. No corrupt guards. You will spend twenty-three hours a day in absolute, total darkness."
Daniel’s arrogance completely shattered. The reality of a lifetime of absolute, agonizing isolation finally crashed down upon him.
"No! Mateo, please!"
Daniel screamed, his voice breaking into a desperate, pathetic wail.
"We are brothers! You can't do this to me!"
"You cut the curtain, Daniel,"
Mateo whispered, turning his back on the screaming man.

Mateo walked off the bus, signaling the guards to close the doors. The transport vehicle roared to life, driving away into the dark desert, carrying Daniel into permanent, inescapable oblivion.
