Chapter 27 - The Accidental Encounter

One evening, Valeria decided to visit the luxury boutiques in the high-end wing of the shopping mall to purchase a gift for her mother.

She walked through the gleaming, marble-floored corridors, wearing a stunning beige trench coat, pushing Alejandro in a custom, top-of-the-line stroller. Two massive bodyguards walked a few paces behind her, ensuring she was completely undisturbed.

As she exited a designer jewelry store, she paused near the glass railing to adjust Alejandro's blanket.

Just a few feet away, a janitor was scrubbing a stubborn stain off the marble floor, on her hands and knees.

The janitor looked up, wiping sweat from her forehead with a gloved hand. It was Fernanda.

The two women locked eyes.

The contrast was staggering. Valeria looked like royalty—glowing, wealthy, powerful, and impeccably dressed. Fernanda looked like a broken, miserable ghost, covered in grime and smelling of cheap bleach.

Fernanda’s eyes widened in absolute horror. A deep, burning flush of ultimate shame crept up her neck and covered her face. She dropped the scrub brush, paralyzed by the sheer humiliation of being seen in this pathetic state by the woman she used to torture.

Valeria did not smile. She did not mock her. She didn't even stop walking.

She simply looked at Fernanda with the exact same indifferent, dismissive glance one might give to a piece of trash blowing across the sidewalk.

"Let's keep moving,"

Valeria told her bodyguards, pushing the stroller past the trembling, weeping girl on the floor without a second thought.
