Chapter 21 - The Skyline of Victory

The morning sun filtered through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the luxury penthouse, casting a warm, golden glow across the imported Italian marble floors.
Valeria stood by the expansive glass, looking down at the sprawling, bustling city of Monterrey. It was the same city that had once felt like a sprawling, inescapable prison of domestic servitude and psychological torment. Now, from the fiftieth floor of the most exclusive high-rise in Valle Oriente, it looked small. Manageable. Conquered.
She rested her hand on her pregnant belly, feeling the gentle, reassuring flutter of her baby kicking against her palm.
"We are safe now, my little one,"
Valeria whispered softly to the empty, quiet room.
She turned away from the window, pulling her silk robe tighter around her shoulders. The physical pain in her hip from where she had struck Doña Carmen's mahogany table had faded into a dull, manageable ache, thanks to the world-class medical care her mother had instantly procured.
But the emotional transformation within Valeria was entirely permanent. The naive, desperate girl who had run away from her affluent destiny to play house with a charming manipulator was dead. In her place stood a Villalobos, fully awakened to the cold, undeniable power of her bloodline.
Her mother, Elena, walked into the living room, reading a sleek digital tablet.
"Good morning, Valeria. The legal team has officially frozen the last of Diego's secondary accounts,"
Elena announced, her voice carrying that familiar, crisp authority.
"They found a hidden savings account where he was stashing a portion of your paycheck. It contained exactly enough to cover the legal fees for his eviction."
Valeria smiled, a slow, icy expression that perfectly mirrored her mother's legendary boardroom stare.
"Let him feel the exact panic I felt every time I had to count pennies at the grocery store,"
May you like
Valeria replied smoothly.
"He is learning, Mother. They are all learning."
