The drive back to their suburban home was vastly different from the tense, terrifying commute earlier that week. Maya dropped her heavy legal bags by the door and practically ran into the living room, scooping her son up into her arms. She buried her face in his soft neck, inhaling the sweet, innocent scent of baby lotion and clean laundry. There were no reporters here. There were no corporate lawyers, no manipulative matriarchs, and no hidden agendas. There was only love, safety, and an impenetrable fortress built on absolute truth. The war was over, and the peace they had earned was unimaginably beautiful.
