Chapter 8 - The Desperate Struggle
Before Victoria could even fully process the sudden, terrifying intrusion of a servant into her private sanctuary, Rosa closed the distance between them.
With a sudden, violent, and entirely unexpected motion, the maid grabbed the glass bottle right out of the air.
Victoria tightened her grip instinctively, her maternal reflexes kicking in to protect her child's food.
"Let go!"
Victoria yelled, utterly confused and horrified.
But Rosa pulled with the ferocious, unstoppable strength of a woman actively fighting to save a life. The struggle lasted only a fraction of a second, but it was incredibly fierce.

With a final, desperate yank, the crystal bottle was ruthlessly snatched right out of Victoria’s manicured hands.
The sudden loss of the object caused Victoria to stumble backward awkwardly, her heavy gold silk robe tangling dangerously around her ankles. Rosa stood panting heavily, clutching the bottle tightly to her chest, her eyes wide with terror, acting as a human shield between the mother and the milk.
