Chapter 28 - The Velvet Guillotine

Victoria slowly turned to face Julian Vance. Her natural breathing was deep, rhythmically controlled, entirely masking the lethal violence boiling in her veins. She took a microscopic step closer, invading his personal space, forcing him to endure the chilling, suffocating weight of her gaze.
"You speak of purity, Mr. Vance," Victoria whispered. Her baritone-soft voice was barely audible over the string quartet, yet it carried the devastating impact of a physical strike.
Vance’s patronizing smile faltered. A subtle micro-expression of genuine unease crossed his face as he looked into her dark, merciless eyes.
"At 8:00 AM this morning," Victoria continued, her tone perfectly flat, "my algorithms executed a hostile, leveraged buyout of the Cayman shell companies managing the Archon Group’s primary liquidity funds. Over four billion dollars of your 'pure' assets are currently frozen in litigation across three international courts."
Vance’s eyes widened a fraction of a millimeter. The blood drained completely from his face, his immaculate white tuxedo suddenly feeling like a straightjacket.
"You..." Vance stuttered, his voice dropping its aristocratic polish. "That is financial suicide. You cannot wage war against the entire coalition."
"I am not waging war, Mr. Vance," Victoria murmured softly, a microscopic, cold smile touching the corners of her mouth—a smile devoid of joy, filled entirely with lethal anticipation. "I am executing an extermination."
Victoria slowly raised her glass of sparkling water, taking a deliberate, elegant sip.

"Tell your coalition that if any of you ever approach me, my son, or my estate again, I will not stop at your bank accounts. I will burn your entire bloodlines to ash."
Victoria turned her back on the trembling emissary, walking away with slow, measured steps, leaving him drowning in absolute, crushing panic.
