Chapter 34 - The Death of a Tyrant

Two days later, Daniel walked into Eleanor's hospital room.
She was awake, looking frail but remarkably resilient.
"You look terrible,"
Eleanor joked weakly, noticing Daniel's exhausted expression.
"You should see the other guy,"
Daniel replied, a genuine smile breaking through his fatigue.
"Silas is in federal custody. The ledger was turned over to the FBI. They are freezing all the offshore accounts as we speak."
He paused, taking a deep breath.

"And I received a call this morning from the prison warden. Victor had a massive heart attack last night. He's dead, Eleanor. It's completely over."
Eleanor closed her eyes, letting out a long, shuddering breath. The monster that had hunted them for thirty-eight years was finally gone.
