Chapter 24 - The Lingering Threat

Daniel returned home an hour later, his anger replaced by a weary exhaustion.

He sat down across from Eleanor.

"You said you came to warn me. Victor is in a maximum-security prison. Vanessa is behind bars. The network is gone. What is left to warn me about?"

"Victor's money,"

Eleanor said, leaning forward with intense urgency.

"The police only found the operational funds. They never found the offshore ledger. Fifty million dollars hidden in untraceable accounts."

"I don't care about his money,"

Daniel stated flatly.

"But Silas does,"

Eleanor countered.

"Who is Silas?"

Olivia asked, feeling a cold chill creep into the room.

"Victor's true right-hand man,"

Eleanor answered.

"A ghost. The man who actually cut my brakes thirty-eight years ago. And he believes Daniel has the key to the ledger."
