Chapter 29 - The Trap is Set

They chose an abandoned shipping yard on the edge of the city.

Monroe positioned heavily armed tactical units in the surrounding empty containers. Daniel insisted on being present, standing beside Eleanor in the center of the dark, rain-slicked pavement.

"You shouldn't be here,"

Eleanor whispered, her eyes scanning the shadows.

"You're my family,"

Daniel said simply, the words feeling strange but entirely true on his tongue.

A pair of headlights cut through the fog. A black SUV rolled into the yard, stopping thirty feet away. The driver's door opened, and Silas stepped out into the freezing rain.
