Ethan and Olivia took the files directly to the authorities.
By turning them in voluntarily, they proved that the new management of Carter Holdings was transparent and untainted by the previous regime.
The press hailed Ethan as a hero for his honesty.
"We are closing the door on the past,"
Ethan told the press conference that followed.
"My father’s legacy is his own. I am building a future that stands on integrity."
Olivia watched from the wings, feeling a wave of pride.
The public perception of their name was shifting.
The shadows of the fraud trial were being replaced by the sunlight of their reform.

Olivia told him later that night.
