Chapter 10 - Inheriting the Empire

Taking the helm of Carter Holdings was not the glorious promotion Ethan had once envisioned.

It was a cleanup operation of the highest order.

The office was cold, the employees wary, and the legacy was tarnished.

Ethan stood behind the massive desk, his reflection staring back from the polished surface.

"Mr. Carter?"

His new assistant, Sarah, knocked tentatively on the door.

"The board of directors is ready for you."

Ethan nodded, taking a deep breath before opening the doors.

The boardroom was filled with weary, skeptical executives who had spent years operating under his father’s corrupt rules.

"I know what you’re thinking,"

Ethan said, walking to the head of the table without sitting down.

"You’re wondering if I’m just another version of the men who came before me."

No one spoke.

"I’m not here to carry on their legacy,"

Ethan declared, his voice steady.

"I’m here to burn the old one to the ground and build something that doesn't require a criminal defense lawyer to maintain."

"That will cost us millions in restructuring,"

One director muttered.

"Then consider it the price of our survival,"

May you like

Ethan retorted.

"We move forward on my terms, or we don't move at all."
