Chapter 12 - The Trap

Ethan set the trap the next day.
He created a fake, highly sensitive document—a list of alleged "offshore accounts"—and specifically marked it for the eyes of the remaining executive team.
He waited.
Within three hours, his security software pinged.
Someone had accessed the file.
The IP address was traced to the terminal of Marcus, the head of logistics.
Ethan walked into Marcus's office, unannounced.
Marcus was frantically typing at his keyboard, his face pale when he saw Ethan standing in the doorway.
"Mr. Carter,"
Marcus stammered.
"I was just... checking the server load."
Ethan walked to Marcus’s desk, placing his hand over the keyboard.
"You were checking the server load by accessing a file that doesn't exist, Marcus?"
Ethan asked, his voice eerily quiet.
"I can explain,"
Marcus said, beads of sweat forming on his brow.
"My father promised me—"
"Your father is gone,"
May you like
Ethan said, pulling the man up from his chair by his collar.
"And you are going to be escorted out of this building by the police, not security."
