Chapter 15 - The Uncovered Secret
The peace was interrupted by an unexpected discovery at the cabin.
While Ethan was looking for extra firewood in the storage shed, he found a locked box tucked behind some old crates.
He pried it open and found files—not from the company, but from his father.
They were personal records.
He brought them inside.
"Olivia, look at this,"
Ethan said, spreading the papers on the table.
They were documents proving that his father had been running a separate, illegal enterprise entirely unknown to his partners.
"These names,"
Olivia said, pointing to a list of signatures.
"These aren't company partners. These are local politicians."
"He was paying them off for years,"
Ethan realized.
"And if this gets out, it will link back to the current company."
"We have to turn it in,"
Olivia said firmly.
"No more secrets, Ethan."
