Chapter 28 - The Cayman Seizure

|

Vivian was the first to break the silence. She let out a horrific, screeching yell, pushing herself up from her chair despite her handcuffs.

"That video is a fake!" she shrieked, her knuckles slamming against the mahogany table. "You made that with artificial intelligence, Emma! You bribed Julian! Arthur loved me! He would never leave me penniless!"

"The video was authenticated by two independent forensic experts and notarized by the State Supreme Court four years ago, Vivian," Julian said flatly, sliding an official judicial seal across the table.

I looked over at Daniel. He was weeping silently, his shoulders shaking uncontrollably.

"Emma..." Daniel choked out, looking up at me through bloodshot eyes. "Please... just give me ten percent. Just give me enough to pay off the Chicago lenders! They're going to kill me!"

I looked at my ex-husband—the man who had watched his mother shove me to the stone floor, the man who had forged my signature, the man who had lied to me every single day of our marriage.

"You had three years to tell me the truth, Daniel," I said, my voice quiet and steady. "You had three years to be a partner. Instead, you treated me like a bank account."

I pulled Julian's tablet toward me. On the screen was the master transfer authorization for the $2.4 million Cayman fund.

I tapped my digital signature onto the screen, followed by my biometric thumbprint.

SYSTEM MESSAGE: Transfer Approved. $2,400,000.00 moved to Miller Restructuring Capital Trust.

Daniel let out a choked groan, falling out of his chair onto his knees on the carpet. "No... no, no, no..."

"It's over, Daniel," I said, standing up and buttoning my blazer. "The money is gone."
