Chapter 38 - The Counterstrike

Knowing the true identity of her enemy changed the entire dynamic of the war. Victor Vance was an incredibly powerful billionaire, a man accustomed to crushing anyone who dared to stand in his way. But he had made one fatal, arrogant miscalculation: he fundamentally underestimated the fierce resilience of Mariana Escalante’s daughter.
Instead of hiding defensively behind lawyers, Elena decided to take the fight directly to Vance’s doorstep. She instructed her investigative team to dig relentlessly into Global Resource Extraction’s past dealings. It didn't take long to strike gold. Vance’s empire was built on a foundation of horrific environmental violations, illegal land seizures, and massive bribery of foreign officials. The evidence was all meticulously buried under mountains of legal paperwork, but Elena had the immense resources to unearth it all.
"We have enough solid, irrefutable evidence here to trigger a massive federal investigation, Ms. Escalante," her lead attorney stated, reviewing the damning documents. "If we release this to the international press, Global Resource Extraction’s stock will plummet overnight. Vance will face severe criminal charges."
"Then we prepare the press release immediately," Elena ordered firmly, her eyes blazing with determination. "But I don't want to just leak it anonymously. I want this to be entirely transparent. The Escalante Foundation will officially sponsor the investigative report. We will stand openly behind the truth."
"Vance will certainly try to sue us for defamation," Marcus warned nervously. "He will use his endless wealth to tie us up in litigation for years."

"Let him try," Elena replied coldly. "My mother taught me that a fortress built on absolute truth cannot be dismantled by a man drowning in lies. We release the documents tomorrow morning at nine o'clock sharp."
The sleeping dragon had finally awakened, and Elena was ready to breathe fire.
