Chapter 67 - The Clinic's New Wing

|

The massive financial success of the book provided me with something far more valuable than personal wealth; it provided me with limitless resources to expand my ultimate mission. Less than six months after hitting the bestseller list, I stood outside the newly constructed east wing of my wellness clinic, holding a pair of oversized golden scissors.

The morning air was crisp and bright, matching the jubilant mood of the massive crowd gathered for the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Local news anchors were present, recording the event, alongside the mayor and dozens of my loyal clinic staff.

The new expansion wasn't dedicated to physical medicine; it was entirely dedicated to legal and financial recovery for victims of domestic abuse. Using the royalties from The Light Reclaimed, I had fully funded a free legal aid center, staffed entirely by aggressive, trauma-informed attorneys, and a financial literacy classroom designed to help women rebuild their credit and independence in total secrecy.

Marcus stood faithfully at my right hand, beaming with absolute joy.

I stepped up to the microphone stand set up in front of the wide red ribbon blocking the new glass doors.

"When I first started this clinic, it was a tiny sanctuary designed to help people heal their bodies," I announced, projecting my voice clearly over the crowd. "But true healing requires absolute safety. You cannot heal a patient who goes home to a war zone every night. This new wing is designed to give victims the armor, the legal weapons, and the financial shields they need to fight their way back to safety."

The crowd erupted in applause.

"I dedicate this center to every woman who has ever been told that she cannot survive on her own," I continued, lifting the golden scissors high into the air. "We are here to prove them entirely wrong."

I brought the scissors down, slicing cleanly through the thick red ribbon. The crowd cheered, the cameras flashed, and the doors to the new wing swung wide open.

As I walked through the doors, surrounded by my team, I realized that I had effectively built an empire out of the ashes of my old life. Daniel had tried to lock me in a cage, and in return, I had built a fortress designed to free thousands of women just like me. My victory was absolute, and my legacy was completely unbreakable.
