Chapter 47 - The Garden Wedding

|

The highly anticipated wedding day dawned with perfectly clear, brilliantly blue skies and a gentle, cool autumn breeze. We had chosen to hold the intimate ceremony in the city’s historic botanical gardens. The massive, lush green arches were entirely wrapped in thousands of blooming white roses and delicate fairy lights.

A classical string quartet played a soft, beautiful melody as the guests took their seats on the pristine white wooden folding chairs.

I stood nervously at the top of the stone pathway, clutching a stunning bouquet of white peonies. Ethan stood incredibly tall and handsome beside me in a sharp, tailored black tuxedo.

"Are you ready for this, Mom?" Ethan asked softly, offering me his strong arm.

"I have never been more ready for anything in my entire life," I smiled, linking my arm securely through his.

As the music gracefully shifted to the traditional bridal chorus, we began our slow walk down the long stone aisle. The guests stood up, turning to look at us with bright, joyful smiles. I saw my brilliant clinic staff, old friends, and endless supporters.

But my eyes were entirely locked on the end of the aisle.

Marcus stood beneath the floral archway, looking breathtakingly handsome. When he saw me, tears instantly welled up in his kind eyes. Sophie stood proudly beside him as my maid of honor, wearing a beautiful, flowing pale blue dress, beaming with absolute, uncontainable happiness.

Ethan walked me all the way to the altar. He stopped, turned to Marcus, and firmly shook his hand before gently kissing my cheek and taking his seat in the front row.

I stepped up to the altar, taking Marcus's warm, steady hands in mine. The air was incredibly sweet with the heavy scent of blooming roses. This wasn't just a wedding; it was the ultimate, beautiful triumph of a life entirely reclaimed.
