Chapter 64 - The Launch Gala

|

The official launch party for The Light Reclaimed was held in a stunning, modern art gallery in the heart of the city. The space was transformed into an elegant oasis, bathed in warm, golden lighting to reflect the kintsugi theme of the book cover. A classical string quartet played softly in the corner, and waiters gracefully navigated the crowd carrying trays of champagne and delicate hors d'oeuvres.

I stood near the center of the room, wearing a tailored, brilliant white pantsuit that made me feel like an absolute warrior. The gallery was packed with my literary agents, representatives from my publishing house, the incredible staff from my clinic, and most importantly, an array of friends and survivors who had supported me through my darkest years.

Marcus stood faithfully by my side, looking incredibly handsome in a dark tuxedo, proudly introducing me to the local politicians and philanthropists who had attended to show their support.

At eight o'clock, the gallery director gently tapped a microphone, signaling for quiet. The room hushed as I stepped up to the small podium, looking out over the sea of smiling, supportive faces.

"Five years ago, I believed that my life was entirely over," I began, my voice echoing clearly through the pristine space. "I was told that I was worthless, invisible, and completely incapable of surviving on my own. I was standing in the absolute darkest abyss."

I looked directly at Marcus, feeling my heart swell with an immeasurable amount of love.

"But I learned that the dark does not have the final say," I continued, turning my gaze back to the crowd. "I learned that when you refuse to let your spirit be broken, you can forge a life that is infinitely more beautiful than the one you left behind. This book is not a monument to my pain. It is a roadmap for anyone who is currently sitting in the dark, wondering if they have the strength to leave."

I raised a glass of champagne, my hand completely steady.

"To the survivors," I toasted, my voice ringing with fierce power. "May we heal loudly, may we live brilliantly, and may we never, ever apologize for our light."

The gallery erupted in deafening, joyous applause. I stepped down from the podium and straight into Marcus's arms, surrounded by the beautiful, unshatterable reality of my new life.
