Chapter 8 - The Crowd Gathers
The commotion had not gone unnoticed.
Several family members and elite guests, alarmed by the shouting, abandoned their wine glasses and rushed out of the grand hall, gathering under umbrellas on the covered terrace.
Teresa was among them.
She stood near the front of the crowd, looking down at the scene. She expected to see a tragic accident. She expected to play the role of the horrified mother-in-law mourning a terrible drowning.
But when her eyes locked onto the tiny black USB drive resting in her son's hand, her entire demeanor completely shattered.
The color instantly drained from Teresa’s face, turning her a sickly, ashen gray.
For the very first time in her arrogant, untouchable life, Teresa Montenegro looked genuinely, absolutely terrified.
