Chapter 4 - The Plunge

Teresa’s eyes went completely dead.

She did not see a pregnant woman begging for the life of her child. She only saw an obstacle. A threat to her absolute control over the family's dynasty.

Teresa completely lost whatever shred of humanity she still possessed.

With a sudden, violent, and terrifyingly strong shove, Teresa slammed both of her hands directly into Valeria’s chest.

Valeria screamed, her feet sliding completely out from under her on the wet stone.

She fell backward, plunging directly into the deep, glowing blue water of the swimming pool.

The impact was brutal. A massive splash of freezing water erupted into the night air.

The heavy, soaked fabric of Valeria’s maternity dress instantly acted like an anchor, dragging her down beneath the surface.

She thrashed wildly in the cold water, her lungs screaming for oxygen. The sheer weight of her seven-month pregnancy made every single movement agonizingly difficult.

When she finally managed to break the surface, gasping desperately for air, she immediately wrapped her arms around her stomach.

She paddled frantically, trying to keep her head above the churning water, fighting a desperate, exhausting battle simply to stay afloat in the pouring rain.
