Chapter 6 - The Rescue

Daniel sprinted across the wet stone patio, his expensive suit jacket flapping wildly in the wind.

He reached the edge of the pool and saw his heavily pregnant wife thrashing violently in the deep end, her head slipping beneath the surface.

Daniel did not hesitate for a fraction of a second.

He dove headfirst into the freezing, illuminated water, fully clothed.

He swam desperately toward her, reaching her just as her head went under for a third time. He wrapped his strong arm securely around her waist, pulling her head above the surface.

"I've got you!"

Daniel shouted, coughing up water as he hauled her heavy, exhausted body toward the shallow steps of the pool.

He dragged her out of the water and onto the hard stone patio.

Valeria collapsed onto her side, coughing violently, vomiting up pool water as she shivered uncontrollably in the freezing rain.

She was completely soaked, gasping for air, clutching her stomach with a desperate, terrifying grip.

Daniel quickly stripped off his heavy, soaked suit jacket and wrapped it tightly around her trembling shoulders.

"It's over,"

May you like

Daniel murmured, his voice shaking with absolute terror as he pulled her tightly against his chest.

"I am right here."
