Chapter 16 - The True Danger

Valeria closed her eyes, letting out a long, shuddering breath of absolute relief.

That night in the freezing rain, she had realized a terrifying, fundamental truth.

The real danger to her life had never been the complicated pregnancy. It hadn't even been the vast, intimidating wealth of the Montenegro inheritance.

She had lived for years under the exact same roof as a monster. A woman who was entirely capable of destroying her own family, of murdering an unborn child in cold blood, simply to protect her own arrogant, sociopathic ambition.

"I'm not going back to that house, Daniel,"

Valeria stated firmly, opening her eyes.

"We are never going back,"

Daniel agreed instantly, reaching out to hold her hand.

"I am selling my shares. I am liquidating my entire stake in the company. I want absolutely nothing to do with that family name ever again."
