Chapter 7 - The Final Strength

Valeria lay against his chest, her breathing ragged and shallow.
She slowly shook her head, tears streaming down her pale, freezing face.
With the absolute last remaining ounce of strength in her exhausted body, she slowly opened her tightly clenched right fist.
Resting in the center of her trembling palm was the tiny, black USB micro-drive she had desperately managed to snatch from the water as Daniel pulled her to safety.
She weakly placed the tiny device directly into Daniel’s large hand.
"She didn't want to kill the baby..."
Valeria whispered, her voice so weak it was barely audible over the sound of the rain.
"She wanted to hide this."
Daniel stared down at the tiny piece of black plastic resting in his palm. He looked back at his shivering, traumatized wife with profound, absolute confusion.
"What is this?"
Daniel asked, his brow furrowing.
