Chapter 20 - The Silver Chain
Valeria looked down at her chest.
She no longer wore the antique silver locket. It had served its ultimate, terrifying purpose at the bottom of a glowing blue swimming pool, bringing a dynasty of lies crashing down.
Instead, she wore a simple, delicate gold chain holding a tiny, polished sun charm.
The storm that had nearly claimed her life had finally passed, leaving nothing but clear, open skies.
"We survived, Daniel,"
Valeria whispered, looking out at the endless, brilliant horizon stretching infinitely before them.
"We did,"
Daniel smiled, kissing her gently on the cheek.
