Chapter 12 - The Reckoning

Daniel slowly raised his head, his eyes locking onto his mother standing on the terrace.
Teresa physically stumbled backward, her arrogant posture completely collapsing under the weight of her exposed crimes.
"I..."
Teresa stammered, her voice shaking wildly as she desperately tried to formulate a lie.
"I can explain, Daniel."
Daniel slowly shook his head, his eyes burning with a lethal, unyielding disgust.
"No,"
Daniel stated, his voice a low, terrifying whisper that carried clearly over the rain.

In the distance, the loud, wailing sound of approaching police sirens began to cut through the night air. Several of the horrified guests on the terrace, realizing they had just witnessed an attempted murder, had already dialed emergency services.
