Chapter 5 - The Frozen Empire

The lawyer's voice echoed through the speaker, calm, authoritative, and utterly devastating.
"The documents have already been dispatched to the company's board of directors, the affiliated banking institutions, and the relevant authorities. As of this exact moment, all accounts linked to the inheritance from Mr. Augusto Monteiro are frozen."
Rodrigo stood completely motionless. The arrogant smirk vanished from his face, replaced by a slack-jawed expression of sheer disbelief.
"Wait... Augusto Monteiro? The Monteiro conglomerate?"
Rodrigo stammered, the scotch glass trembling in his hand.

"Legally, the controlling shares belong entirely to Dona Beatriz and her infant son. The provisional access granted to your firm under the guise of an anonymous shell corporation has been terminated."
Only seconds later, Rodrigo’s cell phone began to vibrate violently on the glass coffee table. Then, Eleanor's phone in her designer purse began to ring. It was a symphony of panic: messages from the bank, frantic calls from the Chief Financial Officer, desperate partners, and employees demanding to know why their access cards were suddenly declined.
