Chapter 13 - The Legal Storm

Later that afternoon, Beatriz sat in her father’s old study. The room was exactly as Augusto had left it. Dr. Almeida sat across from her, laying out thick stacks of legal documents on the polished desk.

"The freeze on the Silva accounts was executed flawlessly,"

The lawyer explained, tapping a pen against a ledger.

"Without the Monteiro capital backing their leveraged loans, Rodrigo's company will face insolvency within the week. Furthermore, the audit has already uncovered that he used company funds—funds technically belonging to your trust—to purchase his mother's luxury assets."

Beatriz rocked the baby carriage with her foot, her expression unreadable.

"What does that mean, practically speaking, Doctor?"

"It means,"

Dr. Almeida allowed a rare, grim smile to touch his lips,

"That the mansion they currently live in, the cars they drive, and the jewelry Eleanor wears were all purchased with your money. And we are going to reclaim every single cent."

Beatriz looked down at her hands. She didn't want revenge for the sake of malice. She wanted justice. She wanted to ensure that people like Rodrigo and Eleanor could never wield power to crush anyone else ever again.

"Draft the asset seizure documents,"

She commanded softly.
