Chapter 21 - The Morning Light

A year had passed since the night of the shattered glass.

Beatriz stood on the sweeping balcony of the Monteiro estate, holding a cup of hot tea. The morning mist was burning off the private lake, revealing a breathtaking sunrise that painted the sky in shades of gold and violet.

Leo, now an energetic toddler, waddled out onto the terrace, clutching a stuffed bear. He wrapped his small arms around his mother's leg, looking up at her with bright, intelligent eyes that mirrored her own.

"Mama,"

He babbled happily.

Beatriz smiled, kneeling down to pick him up. She rested him on her hip, pointing out toward the horizon where the distant skyline of the city gleamed in the early light.

She had survived the cruelty of the world and emerged unbroken. She had reclaimed her name, her power, and her dignity. But as she held her son, listening to his soft breathing, she knew what her true wealth was.

"Look, my little lion,"

Beatriz whispered, pressing a kiss to his soft cheek.

"The storm is gone. And all of this light... it belongs to us."

The breeze ruffled her dark hair as she stood there, a queen surveying her kingdom. The Monteiro estate, once a place that felt like a gilded cage during her disastrous marriage, had been transformed. She had purged it of every memory of Eduardo and his toxic family. The dark, oppressive velvet curtains had been replaced with sheer linens. The suffocating antiques had been sold off, making way for open, breathable spaces filled with sunlight.

She took a deep breath of the crisp morning air. Today was not just any day. It was the anniversary of her absolute victory, the day she officially took her seat as the sole CEO of Monteiro Enterprises, and she was ready to face it with a heart made of steel.
