Chapter 40 - The Unbreakable Horizon

Valentina stood on the sweeping balcony of her new penthouse overlooking the vibrant city.

The morning mist was burning off, revealing a breathtaking sunrise that painted the sky in brilliant shades of gold and crimson. She held a cup of hot coffee, feeling the warm, crisp breeze whip her dark hair across her face.

She closed her eyes, turning her face upward to catch the light.

She remembered the terrified girl who had stood on a hotel terrace years ago, wearing a ruined, wine-stained wedding dress, believing her entire life was over.

She smiled, a fierce, beautiful expression of absolute victory.

She was the CEO of a massive financial empire. She was a woman who commanded respect in every room she entered. She was embarking on a beautiful, genuine relationship with a man who treated her as an equal.

The Cabrales family, their cruelty, and their pathetic downfall were nothing but distant, irrelevant echoes in the wind.

Valentina opened her eyes, looking out at the endless, brilliant horizon stretching infinitely before her.

She had stepped out of the collapsing building, survived the dust and the debris, and built an impenetrable fortress of her own.
