Chapter 28 - The Pathetic Resume
Rodrigo Cabrales sat in the sterile waiting room of a mid-tier financial logistics firm.
He had been searching for a job for seven months. Every door he knocked on was slammed in his face. His reputation as the incompetent heir to a spectacularly failed conglomerate had made him radioactive in the corporate world.
"Mr. Cabrales? The hiring manager will see you now,"
A receptionist announced.
Rodrigo stood up, smoothing his cheap, ill-fitting suit, and walked into the small office.
The hiring manager, a stern woman in her forties, looked over Rodrigo's resume with a visible frown.
"You have no actual project management experience,"
She noted bluntly, tossing the paper onto her desk.
"You held a ceremonial title at your father's firm, which is now bankrupt. Why should I hire you over a fresh university graduate who understands modern financial modeling?"
"I am a quick learner,"
Rodrigo pleaded, desperation leaking into his voice.
"I have connections. I know the industry."
"Your connections are either in prison or refusing to return your calls,"
The manager replied coldly.

"And your industry knowledge led to the largest corporate collapse of the decade. We have no use for you here, Mr. Cabrales. Have a good day."
Rodrigo walked out of the building, the crushing weight of his absolute irrelevance pressing down on him. He had nothing. He was nothing.
