Chapter 4 - The Shattered Silence

Heavy, dramatic tears streamed down her pale cheeks.

The saltwater washed away the thick layer of concealer she had desperately used to try and survive the morning.

The horrifying, dark purple bruises on her face were now completely and undeniably exposed to the bright church light.

The brutal reality of her injuries contrasted sickeningly with the pristine white silk of her wedding gown.

She stared directly into the eyes of the man who had hurt her.

Her voice was trembling with profound heartbreak, but it was sharp enough to cut right through the suffocating silence.

"Look at what you did to me last night."

The groom’s charismatic smile instantly vanished, replaced by a flash of genuine panic.

Before he could even attempt to grab her arm to silence her, she turned away from him.
