Chapter 21 - The Legal Injunction
The arrest of Arthur Sterling sent a shockwave through the city’s elite, far larger than Victoria Langford’s downfall. Sterling had his hands in everything, and the shadow ledger exposed a massive web of corruption.
The next morning, Judge Cross—who had reformed his ways and established the whistleblower fund—issued a sweeping emergency injunction. He formally voided the forged deed, returning the Oakridge Community Center to its rightful trust. He also issued an order freezing all of Sterling Enterprises' assets, completely clearing Claire's name in the process.
Claire sat in the courtroom, holding the official document. Maya was beside her, weeping tears of joy.
"You saved us," Maya whispered.
"No," Claire corrected her gently. "The community saved itself by standing up. I just provided the paperwork."
Judge Cross looked down from the bench, offering Claire a respectful nod.
"Ms. Hale, your foundation has proven to be an invaluable asset to the integrity of this city. The court thanks you for your unwavering courage."
As they left the courthouse, the sun was shining brightly. Adrian was waiting for them on the steps, a rare, genuine smile on his face.

"Sterling is being denied bail," Adrian reported. "He's going to federal prison for a very long time. His empire is being liquidated to compensate the people he evicted."
Claire breathed a deep sigh of relief. The monster was truly vanquished.
