Chapter 3 - Six Thousand Miles Away|

Six thousand miles away, in a heavily fortified underground complex beneath a secluded estate in Geneva, a silent alert flared across a massive wall of dark glass monitors.
A single name, highlighted in crimson red, began to pulse at the center of the primary security grid:
SUBJECT: MARA OSEI-VANCE // EMERGENCY BEACON ACTIVATED.
In an instant, the absolute silence of the subterranean war room shattered.
Twelve men dressed in unmarked tactical gear stood up simultaneously from their workstations. These were not mere bodyguards or private contractors; they were retired commanders from elite international special forces units, men who had executed black-ops missions across three continents.
A senior tactical officer stepped quickly toward the massive oak desk at the end of the room.
“Sir,” the officer reported, his voice tight with controlled urgency. “The encrypted medical monitor we embedded at St. Catherine’s Hospital just transmitted a Class-One biometric distress signal. Mara’s heart rate is elevated past dangerous levels. Blunt force trauma detected via her smart-mattress sensors.”
Seated behind the desk was an older man wearing a faded flannel shirt and dark gray work trousers. His knuckles were thick, and his nails bore the faint, indelible stains of automotive oil.
Marcus Osei looked up slowly.
For seventy-two years, the world knew him as a humble immigrant mechanic who ran a modest auto-repair shop. They did not know that he was the legendary shadow broker known across the global underworld as "The Sovereign"—the most powerful, anonymous syndicate boss on earth, a man who controlled shadow banking networks, private intelligence armies, and political figures in forty countries.
He had retired twenty years ago to give his daughter a normal, safe, peaceful life.
He had swept the floors of his garage so Mara could grow up thinking her father was just an ordinary worker.
Marcus stood up slowly.
The air in the room seemed to drop ten degrees.
“Execute Protocol Omega,” Marcus commanded softly. His voice was utterly devoid of emotion, which only made it a thousand times more terrifying.
“Sir?” the tactical commander asked.
“Re-route my private jet from London to St. Catherine’s airspace immediately,” Marcus ordered. “Freeze every asset associated with Silas Vance and Vance Dynamics. I want a complete surveillance blackout on the hospital perimeter. No one leaves that building.”
“And the woman who touched her?”
Marcus reached for his phone as a secure connection patched through from the hospital nurse’s desk.
“Bring me her head,” Marcus said coldly.
He raised the phone to his ear.

“Where is my daughter?”
