Chapter 16 - The Caged Serpent|

Silas clutched his neck, gasping for air, his eyes filled with pure panic as he stared at my father.
“Who are you?” Silas choked out. “Who the hell are you?”
My father walked slowly up the side of the long conference table, stopping right beside my wheelchair. He placed a heavy, reassuring hand on my shoulder.
“I am the mechanic you thought was harmless,” Marcus answered quietly.
Amara Vale clicked a remote control, lighting up the massive presentation screens on the boardroom wall.
Instantly, the full financial forensic audit of Kade Capital filled the screens—showing millions of dollars in stolen patent royalties, forged digital signatures, and direct wire transfers to Odalys Crane and offshore syndicate accounts.
“Every director in this room has a fiduciary duty to Vance Dynamics,” I declared, looking around at the stunned board members. “Silas has compromised our military encryption software, embezzled over fifty million dollars, and conspired to commit murder.”
The board members looked at the screens in sheer horror, then turned their glares toward Silas.
“Is this true, Silas?” the lead female director demanded, her voice shaking with rage. “Did you forge Mara’s signature?”
Before Silas could form a lie, the boardroom doors swung open once again.
Detective Lena Ortiz walked in, flanked by four uniformed police officers with drawn handcuffs.
“Silas Vance,” Detective Ortiz announced loudly. “You are under arrest for conspiracy to commit murder, corporate fraud, embezzlement, and high treason.”
Silas stumbled backward out of his chair, looking wildly around the room like a trapped animal.
“This is a setup!” Silas screamed hysterically as the officers moved in on him. “Mara set me up! Odalys acted alone!”
“Odalys Crane was arrested forty minutes ago at the private airfield, Silas,” Detective Ortiz revealed coldly. “And she has already given a full recorded statement naming you as the mastermind.”
The officers grabbed Silas’s arms, twisting them behind his back and snapping the heavy steel handcuffs around his wrists.
Silas thrashed against their grip, glaring at me with bloodshot, psychotic eyes.
“You ruined me, Mara!” Silas shrieked as he was dragged toward the door. “You and your filthy mechanic father! You’ll never survive without me! You hear me?! Vance Dynamics is nothing without me!”
I looked at my husband as he was pulled into the hallway—the man who had tried to take my life, my company, and my child.
May you like
“I made this company, Silas,” I said quietly. “And now, I’m taking it back.”
