Chapter 12 - Cornering the Doctor|

At 8:00 AM, thirty minutes before the emergency board meeting, a dark black luxury SUV pulled quietly into the private underground parking garage of Dr. Edwin Kessler’s medical clinic.
Dr. Kessler—a plump, arrogant man in a tailored three-piece suit—was stepping out of his Bentley, holding a leather briefcase and humming to himself.
He was feeling triumphant.
In thirty minutes, he would vote with Silas to strip Mara Vance of her corporate power. In return, Silas had promised him a five-percent equity stake in the two-billion-dollar defense contract.
As Kessler turned toward the private elevator, two massive figures stepped smoothly out of the shadows, blocking his path.
“Dr. Kessler?” one of the men asked in a flat, terrifying voice.
Kessler startled, clutching his briefcase to his chest.
“Who are you? This is a private garage! Leave immediately or I’ll call security!”
Before Kessler could take his phone out, a sleek black sedan pulled up behind his Bentley, cutting off any escape route. The rear door slid open, and Marcus Osei stepped out onto the concrete floor.
Marcus walked slowly toward the terrified doctor, his hands tucked casually into his leather jacket pockets.
“Dr. Kessler,” Marcus said softly. “You have very poor taste in hiding spots.”
“I... I don't know who you are!” Kessler stammered, backing up until his spine hit the side of his Bentley. “Security!”
Marcus’s commander reached out, grabbed Kessler by his silk tie, and slammed him against the car window with effortless force, taking his phone and tossing it onto the floor.
Marcus stopped inches from Kessler’s sweating face.
“My name is Marcus Osei,” my father introduced himself in a whisper that chilled Kessler to his very marrow. “I am the father of the woman you watched being beaten in Room 402 last night.”
Kessler’s eyes stretched wide with pure terror. His knees buckled, and he would have collapsed onto the concrete if the bodyguard hadn't been holding him up by his tie.
“I... I didn't touch her!” Kessler begged, tears spilling down his fat cheeks. “I swear! It was Odalys! Silas paid me to unlock the door! I just stood in the bathroom! I didn't hit her!”
Marcus reached out and gently adjusted Kessler’s crooked silk lapel.
“You stood in the bathroom,” Marcus repeated quietly, “and listened to my thirty-three-week pregnant daughter scream for help.”
“Please!” Kessler whimpered. “I’ll give you whatever you want! Money! Shares!”

“I don't want your money, Doctor,” Marcus sneered. “I want you to attend a board meeting in twenty minutes. And you are going to vote exactly as I tell you to vote.”
