Marcus didn't flinch. He walked slowly toward the main screen, standing tall, his eyes locked onto the man who had haunted his past.

"You should have stayed buried in South America, Gabriel," Dad said smoothly.

Gabriel smiled—a thin, lifeless expression. "And miss the opportunity to see the legacy my foolish brother nearly ruined? Silas was a weak man, Marcus. He thought money was power. He didn't understand that control is the only currency that matters."

"You targeted my granddaughter," Dad said, his tone dropping into a deadly whisper. "You broke the code."

"There are no codes in survival, old friend," Gabriel replied, leaning forward in his chair. He turned his eyes toward me through the camera lens. "You are remarkably like your mother, Mara. Intelligent, fierce... stubborn. But your software is a weapon that doesn't belong in the hands of a mother."

"My software belongs to me," I shot back, keeping my eyes on the progress bar of Protocol Zero running in the background of my tablet. 82% complete. "And you're running out of time, Gabriel."

Gabriel let out a soft laugh. "Am I? Look out the window, Mara."

Dad immediately stepped toward the glass, looking down at the street fifty floors below.

"He didn't send a cyber team to London," Dad said, his voice grave. "He sent an army."
