Chapter 30 - Turning the Tables

As Marcus triumphantly concluded his speech and sank into his chair, a heavy, suffocating silence blanketed the boardroom. Only then did I slowly, deliberately rise to my feet. There was no trace of the manufactured panic I had displayed to the press; there was no frantic scrambling for excuses. With a single, sharp click of the remote in my hand, the massive projector screen behind me illuminated, displaying the authentic, strictly guarded quarterly earnings report.

The numbers were undeniable: under my leadership, Apex’s net profits had surged by an astonishing thirty percent, and our cash flow was incredibly robust. A collective gasp, followed by frantic, bewildered whispering, rippled through the ranks of the shareholders. But I was far from finished.

With a second click, the screen shifted violently from corporate triumphs to criminal indictments. I displayed an intricate, undeniable web of financial transactions, exposing Marcus’s offshore accounts, the illicit syndicates funding his takeover attempt, and the exact routes of his money laundering. "You were absolutely right about one thing today, Marcus," I said, my voice cutting through the chaos like a perfectly sharpened blade as I offered him a chilling smile. "It is indeed time to finally clean house at Apex."
