Chapter 33 - The Bait

The plan was audacious, bordering on suicide. We created a fabricated document, a ledger detailing an account that didn't exist, and sent it to an anonymous leak address we knew the Serpent monitored.
The document claimed we had found the location of the "Sovereign Account," the motherlode of all their illicit funding.
"If they take the bait, they'll move," Arthur said, monitoring the server traffic. "They have to check it. They can't risk us actually finding the source of their wealth."
We waited for days, hiding in a small apartment in a neutral city, watching the screens.
"There," Elias pointed. "A coded message just went out to an encrypted server in the Caribbean. They're mobilizing."
My heart pounded. It was working.
"Do we have a location?" I asked.
"It's a private island in the Bahamas," Elias said, pulling up the satellite imagery. "It’s heavily guarded, but there's a landing strip. If we move now, we can intercept them."

This was it. The final stand. I looked at a picture of Ethan on my phone—the reason I was doing all of this. I would burn the world down if I had to, just to make sure he grew up in a world where he could run in the grass without looking over his shoulder.
