Chapter 14 - The Final Blow|
The judge banged his gavel, calling for order.

“Attorney Harrison, where were these pieces of evidence gathered from?” the judge asked sternly.
“From a legitimate investigation conducted by a private investigator, verified by the police, Your Honor,” Harrison replied. “But that’s not all.”
He submitted another thick file to the judge’s desk.

“We are formally adding charges of mental abuse, financial manipulation, and extortion threats. Throughout her pregnancy, the plaintiff, Ms. Emily Vance, was forced to pay off her husband’s lifestyle credit cards, threatened with the loss of her child if she sought a divorce, and peaked by the public humiliation at the baby shower.”
Brandon leaped to his feet, losing control.
“That’s a lie! They are making things up to steal my assets!”
“Your assets?” I scoffed from the spectator seats, making no effort to hide my contempt.
The judge banged his gavel harder.
“Mr. Vale, if you shout again, I will hold you in contempt of court. Looking at these pieces of evidence, the court finds the father’s side entirely toxic and a serious threat to the child’s development.”
After a 30-minute recess, the judge returned and delivered the verdict.

“The court rules: Custody and guardianship of baby Lily are granted to the mother, Emily Vance, completely and unconditionally. Mr. Brandon Vale is stripped of visitation rights until further court orders, and is ordered to pay emotional damages and return the funds embezzled from Ms. Emily’s credit cards.”
The gavel came down. The Vale family’s every hope officially shattered.
