Chapter 11 - Blocking the Hospital Door|

I strode toward Patricia, blocking her right at the reception desk.
“What are you doing here? The court issued a restraining order keeping both you and your son away from Emily!” I lowered my voice sharply.
Patricia smirked, a chilling smile on her face.
“You think a piece of scrap paper can stop me from seeing my grandchild? Brandon filed an emergency custody petition from jail. This baby carries the Vale name, and it’s my family's only lifeline now!”
She was trying to use the baby as a hostage. She knew that if Emily gave birth, public opinion and the court might lean toward a repentant father.
“You won't take a single step past this door,” I stood tall, blocking the hallway.
“Step aside, you crazy bitch!” Patricia lunged forward, trying to shove me out of the way.
Before she could touch me, two men in black suits—bodyguards I had hired from a top-tier private security firm—stepped out from a corner and grabbed both of her arms.
“Let me go! Do you know who I am?” Patricia screamed, struggling desperately.
Hospital security quickly arrived as well.
“Ma'am, please leave this premises immediately, or we will call the police for disturbing the peace,” the head of security said coldly.
Patricia was dragged away toward the exit. She turned back, glaring at me with venomous eyes.

“You won't win this, Margaret! The Vale family will take it all back!”
I ignored her, staring fixedly at the red light above the delivery room door. Everything now depended on Emily.
